1957-1966 FIRST DECADE

Building the golf course – Golf course architect Harry Rainville designed and built the course. He began work on the course in 1955 and finished in 1956. In January 1957, the first nine holes opened for play.

1967-1976 SECOND DECADE

The birth of tennis – Yorba Linda had been open for eight years before work began on the tennis courts. In August 1965, two professional-size courts were marked off and framed, and concrete was poured. Tennis became more popular at the club, and in 1974, three new tennis courts, two with lights, were added.

1977-1986 THIRD DECADE

Tom Sargent launches and establishes junior golf programs. In 1985, the Yorba Linda Invitational was well organized, it had sponsors and dinner. It marked the first appearance of the future No. 1 golfer in the world. Tiger Woods, who was nine, won the 11-and-under division, shooting 41 on both the front and back nine. He received a Yorba Linda County Club golf bag with his name on it. Woods returned in 1986 and won the 11-and-under division again.

1987-1996 FOURTH DECADE

David Price sold the club to Sanyo Foods in 1991 and signed a contract to have American Golf manage the club.

On March 16, 1991, the clubhouse was demolished, and work on a new building began. In January, the cart barn was destroyed by fire that fortunately was contained and did not spread to the new clubhouse. A new facility was built, and a new fleet of carts were brought in after the project was complete. With the new improvements to the course and clubhouse, the competitive season at the club flourished.

1997-2007 FIFTH DECADE

The club was functioning well, and the members were ready to look to the future and restore the principles of a family atmosphere at the club. One way the club attained that was through the many social functions it held throughout the year. Annual events had always been popular at the club. The President's Ball, Thanksgiving, New Year's Eve, and Fourth of July were all staples of the social calendar for members and their families.
